Top 2% AI Scientist Dr. Jinjin Gu Joins INSAIT as Tenure-Track Faculty in Computer Vision

Dr. Jinjin Gu has joined INSAIT as a tenure-track faculty member, bringing exceptional expertise in artificial intelligence and computer vision to our growing research community.

At just 29 years old, Dr. Gu is widely recognized as a rising star in the field. His work has amassed over 10,000 citations, and he has been named among the Stanford World’s Top 2% Scientists. He has earned multiple accolades, including the WAIC Rising Star Award (awarded to only 15 researchers globally under the age of 30), the Huawei Academic Rising Star Award, and the SenseTime Scholarship (given to the top 29 students across China). Dr. Gu has also been a repeat winner in competitive CVPR challenges, one of the most prestigious venues in computer vision.

Dr. Gu’s research focuses on general-purpose intelligent vision systems, with deep expertise in image generation and enhancement, multi-modal language models, and AI agents. His work bridges foundational research and real-world applications, making substantial contributions to the future of AI.

He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Sydney (ranked 18th globally by QS), where he received the Career Advancement Award for his outstanding doctoral thesis. He earned his B.Sc. from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Shenzhen, ranked 36th globally by QS.

Before joining INSAIT, Dr. Gu held research positions at both the Shanghai AI Lab and the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology. He is an active contributor to the academic community, serving on program committees for top conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, and CVPR, and is a frequent invited speaker at leading venues.
