INSAIT has received prestigious recognition at ICML 2026, one of the world’s premier AI conferences. The paper BrokenMath: A Benchmark for Sycophancy in Theorem Proving with LLMs has been awarded a Spotlight distinction at this year’s conference, to be held in Seoul, South Korea.
Out of nearly 24,000 submissions to ICML 2026, only around 2% were selected for the Spotlight track. This also marks the first time in the nearly 50-year history of ICML that a paper co-authored by a Bulgarian institution has received a Spotlight distinction.
The paper introduces a new benchmark that evaluates whether AI models can resist agreeing with false mathematical claims, providing an important tool for improving the reliability and trustworthiness of AI systems in advanced reasoning tasks.
The paper is co-authored by Ivo Petrov, a doctoral student at INSAIT, Jasper Dekoninck (ETH Zurich), and Prof. Martin Vechev, Professor at ETH Zurich, founder, and Scientific Director of INSAIT.
