We are delighted to announce a major AI release by INSAIT for Ukrainian citizens and institutions. It includes: next generation MamayLM v2.0 Ukrainian LLMs, a state-of-the-art public and free AI Chat in Ukrainian, and direct API access to the LLMs, enabling faster AI adoption by Ukrainian organisations!
Our prior Ukrainian LLM release last year, MamayLM v1.0, was well received by the Ukrainian community with > 54 000 downloads and various adoptions. The new 2.0 LLMs are also based on Google’s Gemma 3 and come in two sizes, 12B and 27B, the largest Ukrainian-adapted LLM to date. They leverage community feedback for 1.0 and utilize new research by INSAIT to reach excellent Ukrainian performance and alignment, surpassing much larger models.
The public and free Mamay AI Chat supports text, image, audio, internet search, thinking and processing of long documents. It is based on the new 2.0 LLMs as well as INSAIT’s sovereign AI stack that powers Bulgaria’s BgGPT public chat.
To enable faster adoption, we are also providing self-hosting of the 2.0 LLMs with direct API access upon request to interested Ukrainian institutions.
The release is part of INSAIT’s strategy for enabling national AI autonomy and sovereignty in a cost-efficient, controlled, secure, and predictable manner, based on open LLMs specialized to the country’s history, culture, and language.
