INSAIT launched the first public nationwide chat system based on 27b LLM

Starting today, the chat application BgGPT (https://bggpt.ai/) with state-of-the-art artificial intelligence, created by INSAIT, an institute at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski,” is available for use. It can be accessed at bggpt.ai and is free for all Bulgarians to use.

In BgGPT, you can ask any kind of question – from solving problems in various fields (mathematics, chemistry, physics, etc.), through writing creative projects such as articles, essays, and stories, to everyday questions like cooking recipes, sports, travel, and more. Тhe first version of the BgGPT chat application was released for public use by INSAIT on Bulgaria’s national holiday – March 3rd this year. Since then, it has provided answers to over 2,000,000 questions across hundreds of topics.

The new BgGPT chat is nearly four times more powerful than the previous version and is based on specialized language models that INSAIT launched in November 2024 in the presence of Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev and Minister of Education and Science Prof. Galin Tsokov (the full story here). The BgGPT chat also includes other components that allow it to enrich its answers and learn from its mistakes.

With the BgGPT chat, Bulgaria becomes the first country in Europe to launch its own chat based on the latest generation of freely accessible language models developed by a public institution (INSAIT) and aimed at its own language.

This nationwide deployment will help Bulgaria develop its own increasingly powerful AI models with numerous applications beyond chatting, making our country one of the leaders in this field.
