The Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology INSAIT at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” will represent Bulgaria at the leading natural language processing conference EACL 2026, taking place this week in Rabat, Morocco.
INSAIT is the only Bulgarian institution with accepted papers at this year’s conference, where the main track acceptance rate is around 20%. A total of three research papers from the institute will be presented, highlighting the growing impact of Bulgarian research in artificial intelligence.
INSAIT’s research covers key topics related to the reliability and responsible deployment and use of LLMs. For example, one of the research papers studies how quantization, a popular LLM transformation, affects the bias, toxicity, and fairness of LLMs. Another paper introduces a new benchmark for detecting AI-generated code, raising the bar for current methods, while a third proposes a more precise approach for fine-grained detection of AI-generated text.
The research has been carried out in collaboration with leading institutions including Tsinghua University, Technische Universität Darmstadt, and Hebrew University of Jerusalem, underscoring the international scope and relevance of the work.
